Wow, I have the honor to be the first reviewer of this book!I love it: it could be a perfect beach/airport reading - easy, entertaining, and stuffing you with facts about Cyprus, too.I enjoyed reading it and now I know so much more about the island and I'd definitely love to visit it once. If I'd have plans to mobe there, the book would be absolutely must-read.Book is full of funny anectotes and very atmospheric.Didn't notice any typos or grammar issues, and overall flow is excellent!
Author does excellent job balancing scenic and character descriptions to events and scenes. She presents experiences and personal involvement in both so that the reader is not bored by un due descriptive terminology. She has an excellent writing quality of melding details , humor, and describes them well. Really enjoyed her writing. Being full blooded first generation of Greek immigrants many of her choice of topics were accurate and as she described them enjoyable. Fortunately for her and her husband was their financial ability to live comfortably and solve their problem as they adjusted to their transplanted home.
What a great insight into life in Cyprus. Daily life is never dull as there is always another path to hike, an ocean to visit, crossing into the area controlled by Turkey. Of course learning the language is an ongoing job but the area is small enough that once everyone knows you--pidgeon language will get you thru. I really enjoyed this book and of course it makes you want to move to Cyprus.
An amazing read, I feel like I experienced a complete get away to Cyprus while reading it. Wonderful style and very easy to follow.
Peek into lives you wouldn't see as a tourist in Greece. Engaging. Just enough tension. But in my opinion, the young priest is in the wrong profession.
Enjoyed the book. Have been to Paphos back in the early 1980's. Apparently it is much changed still brought back great memories
