While the tips contained in this book might be helpful for some, I found the style of photography used for all the examples really off-putting. Everything is very similar - soft focus, lots of haze, lots of loose fabric, lots of lying-down poses. The book could really benefit from a little bit of diversity, as this style of maternity photography is definitely not what many women want. The mothers I've worked with have wanted more natural, family-style photography, while the examples in this book border on the "such a private moment the viewer feels uncomfortable intruding"-type. The pictures of newborns superimposed over the women's bellies were just WEIRD. Perhaps this is a gimmick that sells well for the author, but I found it super-creepy and definitely not something I would want to share with friends and family. I found this title really disappointing and will be looking for other guides to more natural, fun, family-oriented pregnancy photography.
I'm experienced in photography but moving more into maternity photography. I was hoping this book would be more focused on maternity photography rather than photography itself. I ended up skipping through most of the book as I don't need to relearn the rule of thirds. Maybe if those sections were more focused on maternity photography then it would have been useful. Was lookin for more information in germs of clothing choice, poses, location and lighting of maternity not general lighting techniques. Probably a better book for those just beginning photography.
Was looking for a book with ideas for pregnancy photos. Instead, this is book is filled with mostly "erotic" shots. Some women may want to pose for these type shots, but none that I know. There were a few (maybe 4 or 5) photos that were worth looking at, but most of the poses are more of the bedroom type. Some folks might like a photo like this, but certainly would not display it where anyone else would see it! A waste of money.
I am sure this book would be great for some photographers, but for our business...it is way too artsy. There are several "nude" and semi-nude portraits and most of the people we shoot are just regular, everyday people that are not looking for this type of portrait.
When I got this book, I couldn't put it down. This author had so many incredible images, I only hoped to become as good as her. Jennifer explains to you in detail how to photograph & pose pregnant women and how to be very personable with them and make them feel not only comfortable but beautiful with their bodies.. I love the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in this type of photography..
This is great for photographers who want to add an extra level up on others. Talks about lighting, backgrounds, materials to use, etc. Really a great source!
Loved this book it is beautiful on display or on the coffee table but it is also very informative & gives you great ideas on not just maternity photos but on family photo-shoots
Well written, with very nice and tasteful artwork. Jennifer George seems to have a natural talent for this type of work.
